WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO

OUR HISTORY

Global Christian Life Center began as Assemblies of God International Fellowship on 3rd October 1982, mainly for the English speaking Pentecostal community as there were no services available in English in Delhi. Rev and Mrs Doyle Oliver were asked to provide leadership to this new formed fellowship. It began at B-17 Geetanjali Enclave and moved through several locations, including Defence Colony, Connaught Place, South Extension, a couple of city auditoriums to the current meeting place at Vishwa Yuvak Kendra in Chanakyapuri, New Delhi. Along the way Central Assembly of God Church changed its name to Global Christian Life Centre (GCLC).

The church has rapidly grown from its initial six members into several ministries including Missions, Children’s Sunday School, Youth, Men’s, Women’s, Hindi Fellowship, African Fellowship.

Pastor Robert Jeyaraj took over the reins of GCLC in Jan 1984, and has continued as Senior Pastor since then, assisted by anointed and dedicated associate pastors.

MINISTRIES OF GCLC

We believe our ministry is unto God through our worship, prayer and obedience to the Word of God. Jesus says “love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your mind” (Matt 22:37). We must serve Him through our lives that are set apart for holy living.

We believe our ministry is to the Body of Christ. There is one body and one Spirit. We are to make every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. We must spur on one another towards love, good deeds and encouragement.

We believe in our ministry to the world. In obedience to the Great Commission (Matt 28:16-20), we must make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything God has commanded us.Our ministry is to care for the poor and the needy through social educational and compassionate ministries

OUR CORE BELIEFS

SALVATION

Salvation forms the core of our Christian faith by proclaiming God’s victory over sin in our lives. This truth results in deliverance, healing and restored lives. Every believer, whether new or mature, should have a clear understanding of salvation and the difference this truth makes in our lives and churches.

DIVINE HEALING

Wherever Jesus went, He ministered with compassion and healed the sick. Christ’s example showed an interconnection with salvation, as many believed in Him following their healing. Our Lord continues to heal today and it is vital that the church preaches, teaches and practices this biblical truth. Scripture commands believers to pray in faith and trust God for the outcome.

BAPTISM IN THE HOLY SPIRIT

The doctrine of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is our distinctive belief. This truth explains the passion and power of our witness. Jesus promised His followers they would receive power from on high so that they would be His witnesses. We believe this truth is just as relevant today as our Fellowship continues to take the gospel message around the globe.

SECOND COMING OF CHRIST

With the world experiencing natural disasters, economic downturns and increasing uncertainties on many fronts, the doctrine of Christ’s Second Coming is more relevant than ever. Believers must rest in the certainty of the imminent return of our Lord and share this hope with others.

TENETS OF FAITH
  • The Bible is inspired [2 Timothy 3:15-17] by God and is “the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct”.
  • There is only one true God who exists as the Trinity.[Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19]
  • Jesus Christ is the Son of God and, as the second person of the Trinity, is God.[Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14]
  • Man was created good by God but was separated from God through original sin.[Romans 5:12-19]
  • Salvation [Luke 24:47; John 3:3; Romans 10:13-15; Ephesians 2:8]“is received through repentance toward God and faith toward the Lord Jesus Christ”.
  • The ordinance of baptism by immersion is commanded by the Scriptures. Believer’s baptism [Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:16; Acts 10:47-48] by immersion [Romans 6:4]is a declaration to the world that the believer has died and been raised together with Christ, becoming a new creation. The Lord’s Supper [1 Corinthians 11:26]is a symbol expressing the believer’s sharing in the divine nature of Christ, a memorial of Christ’s suffering and death, and a prophecy of Christ’s second coming.
  • Baptism in the Holy Spirit [Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 12]is a separate and subsequent experience following conversion. Spirit baptism brings empowerment to live an overcoming Christian life and to be an effective witness.
  • Speaking in tongues [Acts 2:4] is the initial physical evidence of the baptism in the Holy Spirit.[1 Corinthians 12:4-10]Sanctification is “an act of separation from that which is evil, and of dedication unto God”[Romans 6:1-11; Romans 8:1-2; 1 Peter 1:5]. It occurs when the believer identifies with, and has faith in, Christ in his death and resurrection. It is understood to be a process in that it requires continual yielding to the Holy Spirit.
  • The Church’s [Matthew 28:19-20]mission is to seek and save all who are lost in sin; the Church is the Body of Christ [1 Corinthians 12:28; 1 Corinthians 14:12]and consists of all people who accept Christ, regardless of Christian denomination.
  • Divinely called and scripturally-ordained ministers [Galatians 2:10; James 1:27]serve the Church.
  • Divine healing [Isaiah 53:4-5; Matthew 8:16-17]is an integral part of the gospel. Healing of the sick is provided for in the atonement.[James 5:14-16]
  • The “imminent and blessed hope” of the Church is its rapture [1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; 1 Corinthians 15:51-52] preceding the bodily return of Christ[Titus 2:13] to earth.
  • The rapture of the Church will be followed by the visible return of Christ and His reign on earth for a thousand years.[Ezekiel 37:21-22; Zephaniah 3:19-20; Romans 11:26-27; Isaiah 11:6-9; Psalm 72:3-8]
  • There will be a final judgment and eternal damnation for the “wicked dead”.[Matthew 25:46; Mark 9:43-48; Revelation 19:20; Revelation 20:11-15; Revelations 21:8]
  • There will be future “new heavens and a new earth wherein dwelleth righteousness.”[2 Peter 3:13; Revelations 21; Revelations 22]
